Mark Knopfler allegedly wrote this song after hearing a couple delivery men complain about their jobs, and remarking how much easier their lives might by be if they were rockstars!

This video sticks in my mind for a number of reasons. It was one of the first videos to use computer generated 3D(!) images, but who can forget that amazing drum solo at the beginning, and Sting's background vocals?

The video also shows examples of rotoscoping, where animated graphics are hand-drawn onto each frame. This is the same process used to create the light-sabre effects in the early Star Wars movies.

The video won the MTV Video Music Award for Video of the Year in 1986, and made history on August 1st, 1987 when it became the first music video to be played on MTV Europe.
